Rhiannon Thomas

At Christmas 10 I will be showing small textile wire sculptures both in frames and on little plinths, my greetings cards and Christmas cards, I can’t wait, it is always a special event.

My inspiration for both the sculptures and paintings is from nature and the techniques I use to create my sculptures. I use basketry and braiding techniques to manipulate materials such as wire, used guitar or cello stings and paper yarn in basketry. Each material responds differently which creates an exciting process and a lovely outcome.

I have taken part in Cambridge Open Studios for the last three years and am always chuffed at the amount of people that come to see my work and love speaking to visitors about my work and hearing their comments. For the last two years I have displayed my work alongside Jo Tumner’s lovely oil paintings. Currently my framed textile work is on display in Cambridge Contemporary Crafts and my greetings cards are on sale at Cambridge Contemporary Art.
